Virginia Woolf Writing Competition

(Entries accepted from 25th January - 25th February)

Competition Rules

Closing date for receipt of entries is 25th February 2014.

Eligibility

You may enter any form of writing (and on any theme) in the English language to a limit of 1500 words: poem, short story, song etc. Works cannot be amended in anyway after entry.

The contest is open to any registered member of RateMyWords.

Entries must be entirely the work of the entrant and must never have been published (including on RateMyWords).

Fees

Entry fee is £3.00 per item.
Payment should be made online via PayPal.

Receipt of entry

Online entries are confirmed by the email receipt of your payment to PayPal.

Copyright

Worldwide copyright of each entry remains with the author, but RateMyWords will have the unrestricted right to publish the winning poems and promote them on social media, as well as on the site.

Judging

The winner will be selected by a judging panel at The Virginia Woolf Society of Great Britain.

The decision of the judging panel is final and no individual correspondence regarding the result will be entered into. No person related to or with any personal connection to any person on the judging panel shall be eligible to win a prize.

Prizes

1st £200, a medal and a place in our Hall of Fame.
2nd £100, a medal and a place in our Hall of Fame.
3rd £50, a medal and a place in our Hall of Fame.

Prizewinners

Prizewinners will be notified by email by 25th March 2014.
The prizewinners and their works will be displayed in the website's Hall of Fame on 25th March 2014.

All entries are subject to these rules.

Proceeds of Competition

Any profits after payments of prizes will be donated to The Virginia Woolf Society of Great Britain (and 10% of all entry fees will be donated to Book Aid International).
